Unpopular Opinions
It's time for some unpopular opinions.
DISCLAIMER: In no way am I intentionally hating on a book and/or character that you love, these are just my opinions and I don't mean to offend any one.
Severus Snape SPOILERS AHEAD
After Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows came out people started excuse Snape's behaviour and started making him out to be this hero. The most over used quote in the Harry Potter fandom is "Always". Yes, Snape was a spy for Dumbledore and Voldemort never found out. Yes, Snape loved Lily Potter which made it hard for him to be around Harry. Does it excuse the way he treated Harry and Neville? (seeing as Lily would have lived if Voldemort chose Neville) No it doesn't. Snape didn't have to mean towards Harry and his friends, that was a choice he made. Nothing excuses the years of wrongdoing. Snape was their teacher and like it or not he had a job to teach those kids. That being said Snape is one of my favourite antagonists in a series.
Jane Eyre
The critically acclaimed Jane Eyre. There is no other way to say this other than I hated this book. Yes, it is ahead of it's time dealing with issues such as feminism, but I could not get into this book. I found Jane whinny and annoying. Every time she did something I found myself thinking "please just stop". Rochester was creepy and this guy was supposed to be the love interest, but he unsettled me. Lastly I couldn't get into the writing, which meant I couldn't fully appreciate the plot. People absolutely love this book, me I had four chapters left before I put it down and never picked it up again; I just couldn't read it anymore.
Silver Linings Playbook
I enjoyed the movie better than the book. I think I gave the book 2 or 3 stars. I didn't hate it, but the movie is 10x better than the book and I was really disappointed.
Vampire Academy SPOILERS AHEAD
From book one I did not like Dimitri. I hated the relationship between Rose and Dimitri. This guy was supposed to be her mentor. I found the romance forced. Adrian on the other hand I loved. I wish she chose him, I found that they had better chemistry. But no Rose had to go cheat on him and end up with Dimitri.
John Green
John Green is such a well loved author, but I find that his books are hit or miss. Looking for Alaska is one of my all time favourite books and I enjoyed The Fault in Our Stars, but Paper Towns was a miss for me and I couldn't even finish An Abundance of Katherine's. It makes me really weary about picking up other John Green books. Those are some of my unpopular opinions. Let me know if you agree with me on any of them. xx Holly
